This is the blog for David Gillespie's Architectural Design Thesis at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. The goal is to provide documentation for myself and others of the development of this work and to allow feedback and disucssion of ideas acting as a "live" design diary.

Some great images , research and precedents. The form finding exploration is really great. The jump to structural/constructional concepts for the canopy is good too.
I know you are looking at fluctuating functions so it's going to be difficult to maintain a balanced FUMESS design development. The testing of the framework concept against a whole raft of functional possibilities might suggest that you need to spend more time on "F" than if you were designing a project with a fixed programme. Really really needs to now go to that next stage of declaration of a framework and testing it through speculation on how this might be inhabited.
